For the Christian Easter is a time of celebration. We remember the death & resurrection of the Man Jesus Christ some 2000 years ago.
It might seem strange to some to celebrate death but, when we understand what JESUS achieved it’s no wonder it is a cause for celebration.
Jesus came to earth to bridge the divide between sinful man and a Holy God.
His birth was an event that changed the world.
His life was perfect & sinless.
His Death was the ultimate sacrifice.
In death he made the ultimate swap…
“For God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21, NIV).
Jesus took the place of the sinner and bore the wrath of God upon his own shoulders so that we, the sinners don’t have to!
After death He rose victorious on the 3rd day.
He conquered death securing every believers freedom to be in relationship with God the father.
This is why as Christians we celebrate! We celebrate Jesus’ death because it brings us life. We celebrate his resurrection because it secures our eternal hope.
His death at Easter means our life for eternity.
