St Peters church is located on the edge of the Fish Hoek Valley, so is ideally placed to reach a number of communities in the Southern Peninsula. View St Peters Church in a larger map. The area in the above map is experiencing rapid growth in population. It is estimated that the population has grown from about 56 000 (Census 2001) to something in the region of 100 000, today. This growth is largely due to an influx of younger families and migrant workers (from South Africa and the rest of sub-Saharan Africa).
That’s 100 000 people who need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. There are currently about 400 people who are committed to being part of the St Peters church family. Even when we factor in those who attend some of the other Bible-believing churches in our community, I think you’ll agree, there is a lot of work to be done and a huge opportunity, right on our doorstep, for us to be reaching more people.
It’s also worth noting that of our surrounding community 80% is under the age of fifty whereas many churches (ourselves included) don’t reflect that when we meet. Again, we have an opportunity to obey God’s call to reach a new generation of people.
