Our mission as a church is probably best summarised by Jesus’ well known “Great Commission”… “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matt 28:19-20).We take it that the emphasis here is on “making disciples’ and that this is a commission that applies to every Christian and every Christian church. With that in mind our prayer at St Peters, for 2010 and beyond, is that God’s Spirit would empower us to be disciples of God’s Son for the sake of God’s glory.

When it comes to an overview of what is most important to us at St Peters we find the following “1-2-3” a helpful reminder…
We have:

  1. Aim: The Glory of God
  2. Tasks: Presenting Christ to the world & Growing Christians to maturity
  3. Essentials: Prayer, the Bible and Community
