Contrary to their surrounding culture, the New Testament authors maintained that men and women share an equal status in God’s eyes. Differences in gender are to have no bearing on our status as saved, children of God! But these same authors also taught that there are differences between men and women and that these God-ordained differences need to be cherished and upheld. In a number of biblical texts this seems to have implications for some leadership roles in church. It’s a controversial and confusing issue in contemporary society. We need to understand how this all applies today and in our church.
With that in mind, our next Hot Topics evening is:
Men & Women in the Church: Celebrating equality and enjoying the difference.
Monday the 19th August, @ 7pm at St Peters Church.
Everyone is welcome, tea and coffee will be served, there will be time to ask questions.
