iThemba means ‘hope’. Our vision is for children from under-resourced communities in the Southern Peninsula of Cape Town to be provided with the best possible intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual foundation for further education – giving them hope for their future. iThemba School opened its doors in January 2012 and now provides preschool and Grade R care and education for 60 children.  Our mission is to:

  • Provide high quality education
  • Ensure balanced nutrition: breakfast and lunch and two snacks each day.
  • Maintain a safe and caring environment
  • Teach and model the good news of Jesus

iThemba School provides a structured education for the children, and is registered with both the Department for Social Development and the Western Cape Education Department.

The school also focuses on staff development, supporting and encouraging the staff to develop their skills and obtain recognised qualifications.  Volunteers help with enrichment activities for the children including English language reading and music.

In all that iThemba School does, it seeks to promote the gospel.
